Thirty Years in the Making

What three decades across corporate, government, and startup environments taught me about the one thing that never changes.

I studied Physics with Modern Computing at the University of Surrey — graduating in 1992 with a first-class degree. The world was very different then. The internet was a niche academic curiosity. Mobile phones were the size of house bricks. And AI was science fiction.

Thirty years later, I lead Joggle AI and MadeByAI, invest in pre-seed startups, and spend my days helping businesses integrate artificial intelligence into the fabric of how they operate. The tools have changed beyond recognition. The underlying challenge has not.

Whether I was leading product at Ordnance Survey, advising AI startups at AI Forge, or building Joggle from scratch — the question is always the same: how do you take a complex, rapidly-changing environment and create clarity, direction, and momentum for the people inside it?

The answer has never been about technology. It's about people, intent, and structure. Technology is just the current vehicle.

My inclusive leadership style and ability to quickly adapt to new information have been tested across boardrooms, government departments, and early-stage startups with nothing but a good idea and a whiteboard. What I've learned is this: the leaders who thrive are the ones who are curious enough to keep learning and grounded enough to know what matters.

Thirty years in. Still learning. Still building. Still flying.
